All About Owls Campfire

(4-Adult) Barred owls inhabit our stream valley parks. Learn to identify these owls from other native owls while enjoying the campfire. Toast marshmallows over the embers. Canceled in case of inclement weather. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult


Bat Fest and Find Campfire

(4-Adult) Join a naturalist for a night hike to search for bats with a sonar detector and learn about bat adaptations. Bat crafts for the children while adults learn more about white nose syndrome updates and local bat species. End the night with a campfire, s'mores and the legend of how bats came to be. Children must be accompanied by an adult who is also registered in this program. Not appropriate for children under the age of 4 yrs.


Campfire Fridays

(3-Adult) Join us for an evening campfire the whole family can enjoy. During the program we will explore the wonders of our natural world. Our programs may include nature walks, interactive activities, animal presentations, or other opportunities to learn about nature and our place in it. Includes S’mores. Topics vary by date. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.


Campfire Night Hike - Predators at Night

(4-Adult) Enjoy a night hike to learn about nocturnal hunters. Listen to taped calls of owls and coyotes and catch a glimpse of them in the forest. End the evening with s'mores round the campfire. Children must be accompanied by an adult registered in the program.


Campfire Saturdays-Stargazing (3-Adult)

(3-Adult) Enjoy a stroll along the lake shores and learn about the constellations, their stories and other night-sky features. Our astronomical naturalist identifies the stars for you and will have some telescopes for you to use. The program concludes with a campfire. S'mores ingredients provided; hot dogs welcome. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.


Drill like a Solider

(6-Adult) Our Continental Army, formed in 1775, was created from colonial volunteers. Farmers and tradespeople learned to follow directions, march and fight as one unit. Join us as we practice drilling and talk about the Army's struggles and successes around the campfire.


Family Campfire & Wagon Ride

(All Ages) Take a private twilight wagon ride through the forest and fields, taking in the changing colors as day turns to night. After your wagon ride, roast marshmallows and enjoy family time by the fire. Families may bring up to 10 people per time slot.


Family Fun Campfire

(All Ages) Join a naturalist for a private nature hike exploring the survival skills of our park’s evening residents. Finish around a campfire toasting marshmallows. 


Father's Day Campfire

(4-Adult) Celebrate Father's Day weekend with a hike, campfire and s’mores. Learn about some of nature’s best fathers, take a hike near a stream and eat s’mores. Moms are invited too. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.


Frog Karaoke Campfire

(4-Adult) Bring your best frog voice as you learn about our native frogs while enjoying refreshments at a campfire. Hop along with a naturalist to our vernal pools and streams to sing with the chorus


Full Moon Nature Hike & Campfire

(6-Adult) Enjoy nature's tranquil beauty and winter's bright skies under the full moon. Your naturalist guide points out signs of creatures that glide, fly and tiptoe through the woods in the dark. Enjoy a campfire after the hike with s'mores provided. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.


Hidden Treasure Pirate Camp (4-8 yrs.)

(4-8 yrs.) Dress up like a pirate for camp and follow clues to search for natural treasures in the park. Campers make their own treasure chest, sail boats in the stream and meet live animals. Activities include enjoying puppet shows, toasting treats at a campfire and playing games like “Avoid the Shark” and “Walk the Plank.” Camp will be held outdoors. Once registered, download camp forms from website.


Hot Dog, Smores! Wagon Ride & Campfire

(4-Adult) Meets at Cabell's Mill. Enjoy a turkey hot dog supper roasted over the campfire and a brisk wagon ride through the Rocky Run stream valley. Discover who Ellanor C. Lawrence was and learn about the areas local and natural history. We provide hot dogs, buns, condiments, and s'mores. Feel free to bring your own drinks and sides. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.


Lakeside Campfire Fridays

(3-Adult) Join us for a night of campfire, s'mores and more. A different topic and a different area of the park will be explored each night.


Night Hike and Smores Campfire

(4-Adult) Enjoy a naturalist-led walk through the forest to listen for nocturnal animals and to look for evidence of wildlife. End your hike at our campfire and make s'mores. Children must be accompanied by an adult registered in the program.


Owl Prowl and Campfire

(8-Adult) Join a naturalist for a night hike to learn about the different owls that can be found in the park. Listen for calls and learn about how owls can navigate the night. Then enjoy s'mores at a campfire.


Reptile & Amphibians Campfire (5-Adult)

(5-Adult) Gather round the campfire at Burke Lake Park and meet some of our native reptiles and amphibians. Take a short hike, then make s'mores at the campfire. Bring a flashlight and wear hiking shoes. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.


Spring Family Campout (5-Adult)

(5-Adult) Burke Lake Park is the perfect setting for a family campout and we’re making it even better. Join us for planned events such as a campground orientation, a reptile and amphibian show, guided night hike, campfire with s’mores, tour boat ride and fishing with a naturalist. All the programs above and one campsite with one bundle of wood is included with each registration. Program starts at 2pm on Saturday and ends at 11am on Sunday. One registration per family.


Summer Family Campout (5-Adult)

(5-Adult) Burke Lake Park is the perfect setting for a family campout and we’re making it even better. Join us for planned events such as a campground orientation, a reptile and amphibian show, guided night hike, campfire with s’mores, tour boat ride and fishing with a naturalist. All the programs above and one campsite with one bundle of wood is included with each registration. Program starts at 2pm on Saturday and ends at 11am on Sunday. One registration per family.


Summer Solstice Campfire

(6-Adult) Come celebrate the longest day of the year when the earth wears a green cloak. Learn to separate fact and fiction regarding midsummer and its celestial events. Head out on a hike as we wait for the sun to set and enjoy roasting marshmallows around a campfire. Minimum age to attend is 6 yrs.


Trees are Terrific Campfire

(4-Adult) Enjoy s'mores around the campfire and learn how trees make Ellanor C. Lawrence a special place. Work up an appetite with a short hike. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.
