The Fairfax County Park Authority offers a variety of activities such as classes, camps and tours in a wide variety of categories including aquatics, fitness, nature, dance, outdoor recreation, performing arts, history and many more. Special events, trips/tours and specialty workshops are listed in Parktakes, the Park Authority’s quarterly guide, available through free subscription to county citizens. .

Baby Ballerinas (18-30 months)

This too-cute class for the youngest pink ballerinas stretches their minds and feet. Adult must participate with child.


Dinosaurs Galore (3-7 yrs)

Follow a naturalist as you and your child dig into dinosaurs and explore this prehistoric world. Children make a fossil to take home and dig for buried dinosaur bones. Reservations required.


Discovery Time (4-6 yrs)

Our STEM classes explore farm and nature trails with hands-on learning themes such as building, animals, growth of living things, space, scientific measurement, art methods, alternative energy and conservation. Classes held at the old schoolhouse.

Holiday Tiny Tot Music & Movement (24-42 mos)

In this special holiday session offered by Katydid your toddler explores upbeat and mellow movements, major and minor song keys, genres, tempos and rhythms. Children and their caregivers will sing, play instruments and dance with props as they learn to express themselves through music.


LEGO Robotics II w/parent (4-6 yrs)

After mastering engineering and programming skills in Digital Kidz Weebotics, students are ready to take it to the next level. Students learn engineering basics with an emphasis on exploration and trial and error, and are encouraged to think critically about how and why their design needs to adapt to changing conditions. Our guided instruction allows younger kids and their parent to understand more complicated engineering techniques.


Weebotics 2.0 w/Parent (4-6 yrs)

This class Digital Kidz class introduces students to robotics, engineering and coding. Students use drag-and-drop software to write basic programs that connect to the robots motors and sensors using Bluetooth technology. With parent help, young children build new robots including, Milo the science rover, racecar, helicopter and a robotic arm.
