The Fairfax County Park Authority offers a variety of activities such as classes, camps and tours in a wide variety of categories including aquatics, fitness, nature, dance, outdoor recreation, performing arts, history and many more. Special events, trips/tours and specialty workshops are listed in Parktakes, the Park Authority’s quarterly guide, available through free subscription to county citizens. .

Archery I (13-Adult)

(13-Adult) Learn archery basics by following the 11 Steps of Success taught in the USA Archery National Training System. Determine your dominate eye, develop your technique using a string bow, and practice international style target shooting using a recurve bow and a compound bow. Supply fee of $10 payable to instructor at first class.

Pickleball (Adults)

(Adults) Pickleball is a fun, easy-to-learn, mini tennis-like game that combines elements of tennis, badminton, table tennis and racquetball. Participants learn basic pickleball skills and how to play doubles while being active and improving fitness. Paddles and balls provided.


Pickleball II (Adults)

Prerequisite: Pickleball I. Class focuses on improving essential skills including dinks, volleys, forehands, backhands and the serve. Doubles strategy is introduced. Paddles and balls provided.


Tennis Beginning I (9-12 yrs)

An introduction to the basics: forehand and backhand drive, serve, footwork, rules, scoring and court etiquette. Emphasis is on correct form. For classes at Greenbriar Park enter from Melville Lane. Students need a tennis racquet and 2 cans of balls.


Volleyball (12-17 yrs)

Learn basic volleyball skills through drills and games. Class covers scoring, serving, bumping, spiking and team play.
