Birding on the Bay, DE

Visit Delaware Bay to view waterfowl, shorebirds and eagles. Stops may include Bombay Hook Wildlife Refuge, Woodland Beach, Little Creek Wildlife area and Mispillion Harbor Reserve. Bring binoculars and a bag lunch. Dress for the weather. Van departs from Packard Center, Annandale District Park at 7am and returns at 5pm. Trip cancelation deadline: September 28, 2018. ~


Birds of Prey

Seeing a bird of prey in the wild is exhilarating. Raptor bander John Shafer guides you to hot spots in search of wintering and resident hawks and owls. The trip begins with a multimedia presentation to review the fine points of identifying and aging raptors drawn from his experiences banding hawks and eagles. Bring binoculars. We'll stop for a meal or bring a bag lunch to eat on the go. Dress for the weather. Youth under age 16 must be accompanied by a registered adult. Tour departs at Ellanor C. Lawrence Park visitor center at 10 am and returns at 6 pm.


Blackwater Birds, MD

Travel to Blackwater Wildlife Refuge on the Delmarva Peninsula. View endangered fox squirrels, waterfowl, hawks and eagles. Bring binoculars and a bag lunch. Dress for the weather. Van departs from Packard Center, Annandale District Park at 7am and returns at 5pm. Trip cancelation deadline is November 3, 2018. ~


Christmas City, Bethlehem, PA

Includes motor coach, admission and guided tour. Welcome the holidays with a visit to the Banana Factory arts Center, an award-winning arts building. Browse through the aisles of exquisite handmade works at the Christkindlmarkt. Wrap up your day by strolling though the lighted streets of the historic district at dusk. Getaway:LewisGinter Gardenfest of Lights

Trip includes motor coach, entrance fee, garden tour and semi-private buffet dinner. Get into the holiday spirit at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens in Richmond. The GardenFest of Lights features beautiful botanic displays and more than a half million lights arranged in botanical themes throughout the gardens, including an orchid and model train display. Holiday Train Display/National Christmas

Includes motor coach. Visit Union Station and view the Norwegian Giant Model Train exhibit. Then head over to the Ellipse to see the National Christmas tree lit with LED lights provided by GE. The walkway surrounding the National Christmas Tree features 56 state and territory trees decorated with handmade ornaments that are unique to each tree. This year's show will also be hosting the Florists Transworld Delivery World Cup, a floral design competition. Each competitor representing a different country will make four different floral designs, al of which will be on display. Bring a lunch or enjoy the atmosphere and food of the Reading Terminal located across the street. Bus pick-up/return schedule is: Fair Oaks Mall- depart 7am, return 9pm; Mason Government Center- depart 7:30am, return 8:30pm: LeeREC- depart 8am, return 8pm. Vikings: Beyond the Legend

.Journey back to Scandinavia in the Viking Age. While Vikings engaged in invading and pillaging, their societies were complex and multifaceted. They were skilled craftspeople, successful merchants and hard-working farmers whose influence was felt across Western Europe and beyond. This exhibit brings people from the Viking period to life with a wealth of unique objects, multimedia productions and interactive elements revealing the captivating story of the explorers who set sail from Scandinavia centuries ago. Washington Underground (Adults)

Discover treasures hidden beneath the Washington metro area's roads and monuments. Tour includes a peek into the tunnels beneath the Capitol. Additional admission fees may apply. Trip departs Burke Lake Park ice cream parlor at 10am and returns at 5pm.


Winter Birds of the Coast (13-Adult)

Includes transportation and naturalist guide. Winter waterfowl, shorebirds and raptors highlight this journey to the Maryland and Delaware shore. Dress for the weather and bring binoculars and a bag lunch. Depart the Riverbend Park Visitor Center at 8 a.m. and returns at 7 p.m.
