2 Person Pedal Boat Rentals

Rent a two-person pedal boat to explore our waterfront parks. Our pedal boats provide a bike-like experience and allow passengers to provide pedal power while guiding the boat with a traditional steering wheel. Each rental includes a boat and PFDs for all passengers. So grab some snacks, drinks, and sunscreen and then head out to explore our riparian environments! Boat rentals can only be made by individuals 18 years and older. All boat passengers must be 3 years and older with at least one other passenger 16 years and older. Life jackets are mandatory for all passengers and must be worn at all times.

Bird Walk With a Naturalist

(6-Adult) Use your eyes and ears to identify native birds as you embark on a guided walk with one of our naturalists. Both beginner birders and veterans welcome. Bring your own binoculars or use one of ours.  


Brazilian Soccer Camp (7-14yrs)

(7-14 yrs.) Brazilian United Soccer provides experienced international coaches who specialize in unique player development. Campers will enhance their skills through technical, tactical, and small-sided games. Tailored to various age groups and skill levels, the #BeyondSoccer approach, combined with authentic Brazilian soccer techniques, offers transformative experiences. 


Bug Bingo

(3-Adult) Hike with a naturalist to learn about different insects’ behavior and habitats. Explore the park to fill out bingo sheets to better appreciate the tiny workers around us.


Campfire Fridays

(5-Adult) Join us for an evening campfire the whole family can enjoy. Explore the wonders of our natural world through nature walks, interactive activities and animal presentations. Includes s’mores. Topics vary by date. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.


Campfire Safety for Girl Scouts

(5-Adult) Learn how to safely build and enjoy a campfire, learn fire safety skills and receive the Smokey Bear Pledge certificate. Enjoy a brief woodland walk and toast marshmallows. Children must be accompanied by adult.


Campfire Saturdays - Stargazing (3-Adult)

(3-Adult) Enjoy an evening in the woods and learn about the constellations, their stories and other night-sky features. Our naturalist will identify the stars and will have some telescopes to use. The program concludes with a campfire. S'mores ingredients provided. All participants, including accompanying adults, must register and pay for the program.


Camping Merit Badge

This program satisfies most of the requirements to earn the badge. Scouts must complete all prework before the start of class. Pre-work and program details available at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/scouts. Scouts unable to complete all requirements may receive partial credit from their merit badge counselor.


Environmental Science Merit Badge

This program satisfies most of the requirements to earn the badge. Scouts must complete all prework before the start of class. Pre-work and program details available at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/scouts. Scouts unable to complete all requirements may receive partial credit from their merit badge counselor.


Fishing for Parent and Child (5-Adult)

(5-Adult) Learn how to fish alongside your parent or child as you enjoy the scenery around the lake. Gain a better understanding on how to rig and use a fishing rod, how to safely fish, and how we can be environmentally conscious while we fish. Rod and bait will be provided. Participants 16 and older must have a valid Virginia fishing license.


Hike with a Naturalist

(8-Adult) Join our park naturalist on a hike and explore wild plants and animals throughout the trails. Learn how to use the iNaturalist app to take pictures of things you find along the way. Smart phones, cameras and binoculars welcome. Each hike will feature a different theme and may include: salamanders, birds and other wildlife, wildflowers, trees, nature photography, cultural history, or a scenic destination.


Intro to Kayaking (12-Adult)

(12-Adult) This introductory-level class is perfect for beginners or for those who want to learn how to paddle more efficiently. Learn about different kayaks, paddles, personal flotation devices and safety gear. On the water learn to move the boat in every direction using different strokes and maneuvers. All kayaks, paddles and necessary safety equipment is included.


JGS - Animal Habitats

Satisfies most of the requirements to earn the badge. See site’s website for details. This title allows online group registration.


Nature Kayaking (12-Adult)

(12-Adult) Paddle with a naturalist to learn about the flora and fauna that call the lake their home. Find out what’s growing along the lake’s edge, who likes to wade in the water and what might be swimming underneath you. Single kayaks and all equipment provided.


Oceanography Merit Badge

Outdoor Running for Fitness (13-Adult)

(13-Adult) Master the basics of running to reduce your chances for injury. This class builds confidence, improves your form and increases your fitness. Beginners welcome! Class takes place outdoors.


Outdoor Yoga at the Lake (13-Adult)

(13-Adult) Come to the waterfront of Lake Fairfax Park for hatha yoga in a peaceful, natural setting. Beginners and seasoned yogis are welcome to meditate, stretch and practice breathing techniques while gaining strength and flexibility. Bring a yoga mat, towel and water bottle to class.


Single Kayak Rentals

Our single passenger kayaks are the perfect way to enjoy exploring the waterfront parks. We offer sit on top kayaks that are user friendly and do not require some of the technical expertise that traditional sit-inside kayaks do. Each rental includes a boat, a paddle, and a PFD. So grab some snacks, drinks, and sunscreen and then head out to explore our riparian environments! Boat rentals can only be made by individuals 18 years and older. All single kayak users must be 16 years and older. Life jackets are mandatory and must be worn at all times.


Sustainability Merit Badge

This program satisfies most of the requirements to earn the badge. Scouts must complete all prework before the start of class. Pre-work and program details available at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/scouts. Scouts unable to complete all requirements may receive partial credit from their merit badge counselor.


Tandem Kayak Rentals

Our tandem kayaks are the perfect way to enjoy exploring the waterfront parks with a partner! We offer sit on top tandem kayaks that are user friendly and do not require some of the technical expertise that traditional sit-inside kayaks do. Each rental includes a boat, two paddles, and PFDs for all passengers. So Grab some snacks and drinks, and sunscreen and then head out to explore our riparian environments! Boat rentals can only be made by individuals 18 years and older. Tandem kayak passengers must be 5 years and older with another passenger 16 years and older. Life jackets are mandatory for all passengers and must be worn at all times. Tickets are sold per kayak, each kayak can seat 2 passengers


Travel Mountain Biking Camp (9-14yrs)

(9-14 yrs.) Join Baroody Outside for an exhilarating week-long experience for young riders eager to master the art of mountain biking. From foundational skills to tackling intermediate challenges, campers will receive comprehensive instruction on steering, shifting, hill climbing and descending, obstacle negotiation, trail etiquette, bike maintenance and safety. Please note: While we accept all levels of bike riders, in this camp we are unable to teach your child how to ride a bike. They do not need to be experts but should already be comfortable riding on unlevel terrains such as gravel and grass.
