Adult Potomac Adventures Camp (Adults)

(Adults) Join our experienced instructors and immerse yourselves in the great outdoors with our all-adult adventure camp. Experience the Potomac River from every angle. Go rock climbing overlooking the river in Carderock MD (transportation not included), do a fish and float trip from Clark’s Branch, and take a guided hike down to Great Falls to learn the history and geography of the gorge and end the week learning primitive skills and enjoying a campfire cookout. Prior fishing/boating experience is not required; beginners welcome. No camp June 19.


Anglers & Archers (8-12 yrs.)

(8-12 yrs.) Enjoy this combo camp of two popular outdoor activities- fishing and archery with Baroody. Learn to use a classic bow and arrow, atlatl and other primitive tools. Gain knowledge and experience in fishing using a variety of tackle, both on shore and by boat. No camp July 3.


Camp Riverbend (6-9 yrs)

(6-9 yrs.) In this week-long outdoor sampler, campers will participate in rock climbing, meeting our exhibit animals, fishing, hiking, exploring wildlife and taking a park wagon ride. Different themes each day teach primitive skills while enjoying outdoor recreation and a campfire cookout.


Fishing Adventures (12-15 yrs.)

(12-15 yrs.) Fish from the shore and on kayaks as you hone your fishing skills with Baroody's experienced instructors. Throughout the week, campers will use a variety of fishing techniques in preparation for a float trip by kayak for smallmouth bass along the Potomac River. Campers will spend at least 30 hours of the week on a kayak and will be fishing directly from the boat.


Fishing for Parent and Child (5-Adult)

(5-Adult) Learn how to fish alongside your parent or child as you enjoy the scenery around the lake. Gain a better understanding on how to rig and use a fishing rod, how to safely fish, and how we can be environmentally conscious while we fish. Rod and bait will be provided. Participants 16 and older must have a valid Virginia fishing license.


Fishing Fun Patch

(8-14 yrs.) Go on an adventure and learn about fishing at Riverbend Park. Girl scouts will learn about fishing equipment, techniques, regulations and spend an hour fishing on the Potomac River.


Fishing Merit Badge

This program satisfies most of the requirements to earn the badge. Scouts must complete all prework before the start of class. Pre-work and program details available at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/scouts. Scouts unable to complete all requirements may receive partial credit from their merit badge counselor. All equipment and supplies provided.


Freshwater Fishing Fun Camp (8-12 yrs)

(8-12 yrs.) Gain knowledge and experience in freshwater fishing using a variety of tackle with Baroody. Fish the Potomac River for sunfish, catfish and bass on land and by boat. Learn how to rig and use a fishing rod as well as the safety and importance of catch-and-release fishing. Bring a rod or borrow one from the park.


River Fishing by Boat (5-Adult)

(5-Adult) Fish for smallmouth bass and sunfish from a canoe or jon boat. Get started with an introduction to boating and fishing basics. Previous experience rowing or paddling not required. Boats and PFDs provided. Fishing rods and bait provided. Canceled if inclement weather or hazardous river conditions. Maximum three participants per boat, one of whom must be 16 or older. Each participant must register.


Riverside Connection (11-21 yrs.)

This four-week adapted recreation series introduces teens to hiking, fishing, orienteering and kayaking in our safe and accessible sit-on-top kayaks. Our experienced instructors focus on safety and fun for students who may have never enjoyed the great outdoors quite like this. Parents must be accessible during the program. Students are responsible for personal care during the length of each class.


Riverside Campfire - Fishing Fun

(6-Adult) Fish from the river bank and learn about the fish's world. S'mores provided. Borrow our fishing rods or bring your own, tackle and bait provided. Meet at the Visitor Center. Children must be accompanied by an adult registered in the program.


Women on the Water (8-12 yrs)

(8-12 yrs.) Join Baroody Camps for an all-female river adventure camp where you can paddle alongside other girls and develop the skills necessary to become a fishing pro. This week will be spent all outdoors exploring the Potomac River through kayaking, island-hopping, dip-netting, fishing, and more. Immerse yourself in this unique and rare aquatic ecosystem, learn about influential women who took action to protect the environment, and find out how you can be stewards of our river too! Prior kayaking experience recommended but not required.
