(14–16 yrs.) In this NEW Moonlit Wings leadership camp, teens build communication, teamwork, and leadership skills as Jr. Directors by assisting instructors and mentoring younger campers. Teens help lead acting activities, improv games, rehearsals, and performances while gaining hands-on experience assisting instructors and working with younger performers. This leadership program partners with Moonlit Wings youth camps. View the schedule to determine which camp you will work with. ACTify camps are more production-focused with a longer show, while ACTion! and Applause offer shorter performances, theatre games, and swim time at select locations. No camp July 3.

(6-10 yrs.) In this Katydid camp, campers spend the morning on the farm with visits to animals, hikes, games and crafts. Campers then head indoors for the afternoon to learn about lives 100 years ago through toys, games, crafts, and pictures. Children must have completed kindergarten. (3.5.-6 yrs.) This Katydid Kids camp, based at the Old Floris Schoolhouse, includes daily farm visits. Learn facts and stories about the animals through indoor and outdoor games, songs and puppetry. Bring lunch, snack, and water bottle daily. Child must be potty-trained. Specifics/questions call 703-689-3104 or info@katydidkids.com. No camp June 19 or July 4. Camps the week of June 9 for non-FCPS participants. Camp is licensed: requires immunization record and proof of identity with camp paperwork. No camp June 19 and July 3. (8-10 yrs.) Campers will learn about tacking, grooming, general horse care and barn chores and enjoy daily 30-minute riding lessons. Other horse-related activities include arts and crafts, equine speakers and breed demos. Bring a lunch, snack and drink. Wear proper shoes/boots, comfortable clothes, riding breeches or long, tight stretchy pants. Spirit Equestrian provides campers with a helmet, but if you choose to bring your own helmet, it must be ASTM/SEI certified riding helmet.

(6-9yrs) Farm animals have many needs from food to medicine to just the right living spaces. Practice being a vet with STEM activities and daily hands-on access to animals. Games, crafts, and activities round out this camp.

"(7-14 yrs.) In this Moonlit Wings two-week camp, kids perform an original musical adventure where The Magic Carpet takes the lead, helping Aladdin and his fellow orphans outsmart an evil sorcerer and discover a whole new world. Explore improvisation games, character creation, a talent show, while developing imagination, storytelling skills, and teamwork. All levels welcome. Family/friends enjoy a mini performance on the last day. Rec Center camps bring swimsuit/towel for afternoon swim break. (Prefer behind-the-scenes? (9-14 yrs.) An immersive week-long day camp that offers young anglers a comprehensive fishing experience. From mastering the intricacies of fishing equipment to understanding fish behavior and responsible angling practices, campers will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to become self-reliant anglers. Campers will fish in a variety of scenic locations, including freshwater ponds, rivers, lakes, and even the Chesapeake Bay.

(10-14 yrs.) From tadpoles to meadow voles, water is needed for all living things. Join us for this mostly outdoor camp as we explore many features of the watershed and learn about animals that depend on it. Be prepared to get wet, do cool experiments and learn how humans affect the quality of water in our rivers and streams.

This service provides one hour of additional care for campers at their specific camp location. Only campers enrolled in full-day camps can register for extended care. Camps ending before 4 p.m. are not eligible for this service. Campers choose from supervised activities including board games, cards, drawing, coloring and age-appropriate movies. Registration is weekly; be sure to register for two weeks if your camper is in a two-week camp.   Advance registration is required as space is limited. Refunds/Transfers for Extended Care are given in full if requested prior to the camp week.  No refunds are given once the week begins. 

(5-8) A magical adventure awaits in this camp filled with stories, plants and animals. Plant a beanstalk and watch it grow or find out if animals really DO lay golden eggs. Play, explore, and enjoy the magic of reading, learning and pretending together in this fairy tale summer delight!

(8-12 yrs.) Campers will learn about different types of machinery and equipment used at the farm, experience different machines from the past and present, explore the farm, and observe how the farmers feed and care for our animals. O

(8-12 yrs.) Explore the science behind the animals that live at Frying Pan Farm Park. Learn about the habits and biology of our farm animals and their wild ancestors. Meet the countless creatures that live in stream and forest habitats. Activities include hands-on lessons with farm animals, nature hikes, games and crafts.

(24-42 mos.) Children enjoy seasonal activities and crafts, and delight in the sights, sounds and smells of the holidays. Any supply fee payable to instructor at first class.

(18-30 mos.) In this special holiday session offered by Katydid your toddler explores upbeat and mellow movements, major and minor song keys, genres, tempos and rhythms. Children and their caregivers will sing, play instruments and dance with props as they learn to express themselves through music.

(8-14 yrs.) For students who have not taken riding lessons before. This class teaches the basics of riding and caring for horses. Class will primarily focus on riding skills. Unmounted horsemanship lessons will be offered during inclement weather. Student weight must not be more than 175 lbs.

(8-14 yrs.) Prerequisite: Students must have taken Horseback Riding Beginning for three previous sessions with SPIRIT. Riders will build on skills learned in the Beginner class. Class will primarily focus on riding skills. Unmounted horsemanship lessons will be provided during inclement weather. Student weight must not exceed 175 lbs.

(8-12 yrs.) Experience life on a farm through activities including goat milking and working in the garden. Learn about farm animals and the roles they play in our lives. Try your hand at farm chores and explore farm machinery.

(10-13 yrs.) Using LEGO® SPIKE™ Prime kits, campers will design, build, and program robots that tackle challenges and bring big ideas to life. From safe-deposit boxes to memory games, campers will brainstorm, test, and refine creative solutions in this Baroody camp while exploring motors, sensors, lights, and sounds. No camp July 3.

(2-3 yrs.) Join us to learn about a different element of farm life each week. Classes held during the same week will cover repeat topics. Other activities can include story time, crafts and small farm chores. One adult must attend with each child. Please limit one parent to attend with each child.

(4-6 yrs.) Campers will make crafts, tour the farm, meet a different animal each day and enjoy rides on the carousel and wagon. No camp July 3.

(6-12 yrs.) Stem exCEL campers will use programming fundamentals to design and implement large-scale Minecraft modifications. Hands-on activities will take place at the beginning of camp that introduce vital concepts then use the easy drag-and-drop interface to create programs, solve problems and design games. Next, campers will learn functions, variables and conditionals. No camp July 3.

(9-14 yrs.) Join Baroody Outside for an exhilarating week-long experience for young riders eager to master the art of mountain biking. From foundational skills to tackling intermediate challenges, campers will receive comprehensive instruction on steering, shifting, hill climbing and descending, obstacle negotiation, trail etiquette, bike maintenance and safety. Please note: While we accept all levels of bike riders, in this camp we are unable to teach your child how to ride a bike. They do not need to be experts but should already be comfortable riding on unlevel terrains such as gravel and grass. No camp July 3.

(9-13 yrs.) Embark on a thrilling journey of wilderness exploration and self-sufficiency with Baroody Camps This immersive experience equips participants with essential skills to thrive in the great outdoors. The group will travel within about a 1-hour radius. Camp focuses on navigation skills (map/compass use, hiking), exploring local flora and fauna, and a day of kayaking while discussing how other cultures survive. Campers will also master critical skills like shelter building and fire building, while fostering teamwork and problem-solving in wilderness scenarios. No camp July 3.

(6-10 yrs.) Connect the dots using science to help solve a crime in this hands-on Mad Science camp. Uncover the science involved in evidence gathering, analysis, and fingerprint detection. Enhance your recall and observation skills and learn how to use spy equipment. No camp July 3.

(8-12 yrs.) Boys and girls learn basic hand and machine techniques, measuring, using patterns, fabric structure, maintenance and sewing machine operation. Campers will create projects such as a custom hand-painted apron or hand-painted denim tote bag. Camp held indoors and outdoors, weather permitting. An additional supply fee of $35 to cover a personal sewing kit, fabric, patterns, and notions will be collected prior to the first day.

(4-Adult) Class is open to new and returning students with developmental, emotional, neurological and physical disabilities. Therapeutic riding teaches safe and effective horsemanship in a group setting. Each lesson is focused on improving the development of balance, fine and gross motor skills, confidence and communication. The teacher-to-student ratio is 4:1, with trained volunteers supporting each student’s individual needs. Class will primarily focus on riding skills, and unmounted horsemanship lessons will be provided during inclement weather. Student weight must not exceed 175 lbs. A medical form from SPIRIT is required.
