(6-10 yrs.) In this Katydid camp, campers spend the morning on the farm with visits to animals, hikes, games and crafts. Campers then head indoors for the afternoon to learn about lives 100 years ago through toys, games, crafts, and pictures. Children must have completed kindergarten. (3.5.-6 yrs.) This Katydid Kids camp, based at the Old Floris Schoolhouse, includes daily farm visits. Learn facts and stories about the animals through indoor and outdoor games, songs and puppetry. Bring lunch, snack, and water bottle daily. Child must be potty-trained. Specifics/questions call 703-689-3104 or info@katydidkids.com. No camp June 19 or July 4. Camps the week of June 9 for non-FCPS participants. Camp is licensed: requires immunization record and proof of identity with camp paperwork. No camp June 19 and July 3. FCPS last day of school June 17.
(6-9yrs) Farm animals have many needs from food to medicine to just the right living spaces. Practice being a vet with STEM activities and daily hands-on access to animals. Games, crafts, and activities round out this camp.
(2-Adult) Enjoy an intimate after hours experience at the farm as day turns to night. Register for a wagon ride time and enjoy the bonfire after your ride. Staff will provide marshmallows for roasting but feel free to bring along any other treat for yourselves.
(5-8) A magical adventure awaits in this camp filled with stories, plants and animals. Plant a beanstalk and watch it grow or find out if animals really DO lay golden eggs. Play, explore, and enjoy the magic of reading, learning and pretending together in this fairy tale summer delight!
(10-14 yrs.) Explore life as a farm hand by milking cows or goats and tending to farm animals. Farm chores, games, activities and guest speakers are all part of this unique camp experience that introduces young people to farm life.
(8-12 yrs.) Campers will learn about different types of machinery and equipment used at the farm, experience different machines from the past and present, explore the farm, and observe how the farmers feed and care for our animals. O
(7-14 yrs.) Our farmers make taking care of the animals look easy. Here is your chance for a behind the scenes farm tour to see all the hard work that goes into raising our farm animals. Participants tour our feed room, visit our animal areas, meet farm animals and learn the different management practices that we use to keep the animals happy and healthy. One adult must attend with a registered child in this program.
(7-14 yrs.) Come learn about dairy cows on one of the last working dairy farms in Fairfax County. See our cow get milked and help them get feed. Learn about the history of dairy farming and the process to make milk into dairy products.
(8-Adult) Farming is the backbone of America, and farm animals have changed over time with breeding. Learn more about historic animal breeds that have lived in America and then meet and interact with some of their modern descendants. This program links to the VA250 and Fairfax250 commemoration.
(8-12 yrs.) Explore the science behind the animals that live at Frying Pan Farm Park. Learn about the habits and biology of our farm animals and their wild ancestors. Meet the countless creatures that live in stream and forest habitats. Activities include hands-on lessons with farm animals, nature hikes, games and crafts.
(8-12 yrs.) Experience life on a farm through activities including goat milking and working in the garden. Learn about farm animals and the roles they play in our lives. Try your hand at farm chores and explore farm machinery.
(2-3 yrs.) Join us to learn about a different element of farm life each week. classes held during the same week will have repeat topics. Other activities can include story time, crafts and small farm chores. One adult must attend with each child. Please limit one parent to attend with each child.
