Chess (6-14 yrs)

(6-14 yrs) Class time is evenly split between lesson and play. Lessons range from learning the rules to advanced tournament strategies. Play time is structured to pair each student against an opponent of similar skill. Any supply fee payable to instructor at first class.


Chess by Silver Knights (6-12 yrs.)

(6-12 yrs.) Learn chess with Silver Knights (formerly Magnus Chess Academy)! They’ve taught 100,000 children to play, including state and national champions, but most students are beginners looking to learn a new skill. Class time is divided between lessons and practice games. Lessons range from the basic rules to advanced tournament strategies. Students will have the opportunity to play in tournaments. All chess supplies provided. All skill levels are welcome.


Chess Merit badge

This program satisfies most of the requirements to earn the badge. Scouts must complete all prework before the start of class. Pre-work and program details available at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/scouts. Scouts unable to complete all requirements may receive partial credit from their merit badge counselor.


Chess MiniCamp (6-13 yrs.)

(6-13 yrs.) This Silver Knights camp has taught chess to more than 100,000 children including national champions. This one-day camp is for advanced players to sharpen their skills or beginners who want to learn the game. Campers will learn the rules, openings, tactics, strategy, endgames, while playing games and taking outdoor breaks. Once registered, download camp forms from website.


Chess Winter Camp (6-13 yrs.)

(6-13 yrs.) This Silver Knights camp has taught the great strategy game to more than 100,000 children including national champions. This camp is for advanced players to sharpen their skills or beginners who want to learn the game. Campers will learn the rules, openings, tactics, strategy, endgames, while playing games and taking outdoor breaks.No camp December 24, 25 and January 1.
