Anglers & Archers (8-12 yrs.)

(8-12 yrs.) Enjoy this combo camp of two popular outdoor activities- fishing and archery. Learn to use a classic bow and arrow, atlatl and other primitive tools. Gain knowledge and experience in fishing using a variety of tackle, both on shore and by boat. No camp June 19. Once registered, download camp forms from website.


Anglers with Autism (6-21 yrs.)

(6-21 yrs.) This event is designed for participants with Autism and their families to learn about fishing on World Autism Awareness Day. Learn how to fish together through basic fishing education and a guided fishing opportunity at Lake Fairfax Park. All equipment is provided. Participants 16 and older must have a valid VA fishing license. Family participation is required.


Baroody Fishing Camp (9-14 yrs.)

(9-14 yrs.) From mastering the intricacies of fishing equipment to understanding fish behavior and responsible angling practices, campers will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to become self-reliant anglers. The camp's focus is to foster a deep appreciation for the outdoors while equipping campers with the tools to enjoy fishing as a lifelong pursuit. Throughout the week, campers will have the opportunity to fish in a variety of scenic locations, including freshwater ponds, rivers, lakes, and even the Chesapeake Bay. Big Fish Fishing Camp (10-16 yrs.)

(10-16 yrs.) Fish & Explore takes campers off site to teach fishing basics and more intensive fishing techniques, including targeting specific fish species, reading the water and navigation safety. All gear including tackle, rods, reels and life jackets supplied. Bring lunch, snack, water bottle, change of clothes, sneakers or river shoes and towel. A signed waiver form is required. Family Fishing (5-Adult)

(5-Adult) Join a naturalist to learn the basics of fishing while enjoying the beauty of the lakefront. Gain a better understanding of not only how to fish, but also how we can better connect with the natural world while participating in recreational activities, such as fishing. Rod and bait will be provided. Participants 16 and older must have a valid Virginia fishing license.


Family Fishing at Sunset

(5-Adult) Enjoy the beauty of the lakefront at sunset while learning the basics of fishing with a naturalist. Many fish like to come up to eat when the water cools after a hot day, making it a great time to fish with family members and enjoy each other’s company. Rod and bait will be provided. Participants 16 and older must have a valid Virginia fishing license.


Fishing Adventures (12-15 yrs.)

(12-15 yrs.) Fish from the shore and on kayaks as you hone your fishing skills with our experienced instructors. Throughout the week, campers will use a variety of fishing techniques in preparation for a float trip by kayak for smallmouth bass along the Potomac River. This camp will also include off-site trips to local lakes and ponds around Fairfax County. Bring snack, lunch and water bottle. Once registered, download camp forms from website.


Fishing for Parent and Child (5-Adult)

(5-Adult) Learn how to fish alongside your parent or child as you enjoy the scenery around the lake. Gain a better understanding on how to rig and use a fishing rod, how to safely fish, and how we can be environmentally conscious while we fish. Rod and bait will be provided. Participants 16 and older must have a valid Virginia fishing license.


Fishing Fun Patch

(8-14 yrs.) Go on an adventure and learn about fishing at Riverbend Park. Girl scouts will learn about fishing equipment, techniques, regulations and spend an hour fishing on the Potomac River.


Fishing Merit Badge

This program satisfies most of the requirements to earn the badge. Scouts must complete all prework before the start of class. Pre-work and program details available at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/scouts. Scouts unable to complete all requirements may receive partial credit from their merit badge counselor. All equipment and supplies provided.


Freshwater Fishing Fun Camp (8-12 yrs)

(8-12 yrs.) Gain knowledge and experience in freshwater fishing using a variety of tackle. Fish the Potomac River for sunfish, catfish and bass on land and by boat. Learn how to rig and use a fishing rod as well as the safety and importance of catch-and-release fishing. Bring a rod or borrow one from the park. Once registered, download camp forms from website.


Lake Fairfax Survival Camp (9-13yrs)

(9-13 yrs.) Learn the way to survive in the Northeast wilderness through challenging tasks and games. Survivors will join each other in shelter building, water filtration, fire building, wilderness fire-aid, and fishing. No camp June 19. Once registered, download camp forms from website.


Lakeside Nature Discovery Camp (6-10 yrs.)

(6-10 yrs.) Campers enjoy guided nature hikes, crafts, fishing and boat rides (if available). Shaded trails and lakefronts are perfect settings for exploring creatures and plants that live in our streams, lakes and forests. Bring lunch, snack and water bottle. Lake Accotink meets at the large shelter by marina. Camps run rain or shine. Contact park for details on extreme weather days. No camp June 19 and July 4. Lakeside Nature Discovery Camp (7-10yrs)

(7-10 yrs.) Campers enjoy guided nature hikes, crafts, fishing and boat rides (boats vary depending on availability and may include kayak, rowboat, tour boat). Shaded trails and lakefronts are perfect settings for exploring creatures and plants that live in our streams, lakes and forests. Burke Lake meets at shelter C. Camps run rain or shine. Lakeside Splash & Explore Camp (6-9 yrs.)

(6-9 yrs.) Campers will enjoy fishing, hiking, nature crafts, games and boating lakeside. Camp includes swim time at our famous Water Mine Family Swimmin’ Hole (dependent on weather/waterpark operation). Bring a swimsuit, towel, bag lunch, snacks and water bottle. Lakeside Splash & Explore Camp(9-12yr)

Outdoor Skills Camp (9-13yrs)

(9-13 yrs.) Develop new skills to explore the outdoors. Be prepared for many different outdoor activities including kayaking (when available), fishing, fire building, orienteering, geocaching, and learning how to safely explore nature. River Fishing by Boat (5-Adult)

(5-Adult) Fish for smallmouth bass and sunfish from a canoe or jon boat. Get started with an introduction to boating and fishing basics. Previous experience rowing or paddling not required. Boats and PFDs provided. Fishing rods and bait provided. Canceled if inclement weather or hazardous river conditions. Maximum three participants per boat, one of whom must be 16 or older. Each participant must register.


Riverside Campfire - Fishing Fun

(6-Adult) Fish from the river bank and learn about the fish's world. S'mores provided. Borrow our fishing rods or bring your own, tackle and bait provided. Meet at the Visitor Center. Children must be accompanied by an adult registered in the program.


Young Adventures (7-9 yrs)

(7-9 yrs.) Join Baroody Outside for a dynamic outdoor experience tailored for kids with a passion for exploring nature and the wild. Camp may include fishing, orienteering, hiking, creek exploration and climbing. Campers will be transported to various scenic spots, equipped with all necessary gear, and embark on a journey of self-discovery and skill development. Once registered, download camp forms from website.
