(16-Adult) Explore the art of garden design and poetry at Green Spring, with a focus on the life and work of Beatrix Farrand, one of America’s pioneering landscape architects. Guided by poet Lisa Lowry read and discuss poems that incorporate landscape, history and historical figures. Then write some poems of your own.

(16-Adult) Join poet Lisa Lowry to dig into layered histories—both of Green Spring and your own personal experiences. Read and discuss poems while "excavating" the history of Green Spring and your own memories, then transform them into poetry.

(16-Adult) Explore the dynamic intersection of humans and nature with poet Lisa Lowry. Reflect on how gardens, plants, and natural spaces influence human life and relationships, and vice versa. Read and discuss poems that highlight this intersection then craft your own poems that capture the complexity, beauty, and sometimes tension of these interactions.


Poetry Workshop - Polishing Poetry in Bloom

(16-Adult) Take a deeper look at poetry that incorporates gardens, nature and landscape with poet Lisa Lowry. Focus on how small details in these poems add depth and meaning. Then discuss how to edit your poems for publication. Students may bring poems from previous sessions for feedback.


Poetry Workshop - Watercolor Canvas of Poetry

(16-Adult) Join published poet Sherri Waas Shunfenthal for a creative, reflective workshop using poetry and/or sketching. Begin with a mindful walk in the garden, then gather indoors to explore metaphor, seasonal change and personal renewal. Through guided prompts, you’ll write, create and share in a supportive space—ending with a brief, grounding meditation.
