Abrakadoodle Kids on Canvas (6-12 yrs) by Vendor

(6-12 yrs.) Children will learn to paint as they imagine a fantastic world inspired by nature. Learn about shapes, how to create 3D buildings and how to explore maps, and how to mix colors. Supply fee payable to instructor at first class.


All About Owls Campfire

(4-Adult) Barred owls inhabit our stream valley parks. Learn to identify these owls from other native owls while enjoying the campfire. Toast marshmallows over the embers. Canceled in case of inclement weather. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.


American Indian Culture Merit Badge

This program satisfies most of the requirements to earn the badge. Scouts must complete all prework before the start of class. American Indian Games and Crafts

(4-Adult) Play traditional Eastern Woodland Indian games of skill and luck which were common during the period of first European contact. Enjoy oral storytelling and make a game to take home. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.


Animal Feeding

(3-Adult) It's dinner time at the nature center and worms and insects are on the menu. Help our naturalist care for and feed the nature center's animals.


Animal Pajama Party

(3-7 yrs.) Put on your pajamas and come to the nature center to hear bedtime stories, meet animals and wish goodnight to the center's live animals. Bring your favorite stuffed animal with you. One adult only per registered child.


Animal Superstitions

(7-Adult) Challenge your superstitions on this upcoming Friday the 13th by learning more about animal-related superstitions and their impacts on wildlife. Meet live animals.


Animals After Hours

(Adults) Come get an exclusive look at our animals after hours at this adults-only event. Learn about our local species and their amazing habits and meet our animal ambassadors up close and personal.


Animals: Zoology Fun for Kids (4-7 yrs.)

(4-7 yrs.) Explore the woods, creeks and ponds as we look for all sorts of critters. Learn about the animal life science of frogs, toads, birds, mammals, snakes, turtles, fish and insects through hikes, projects and games.


Autumn Leaf Animals

(5-12 yrs.) Stretch your creativity as you create animal masterpieces out of natural materials gathered around the park. The only limit is your imagination.


Backyard Bird Buffet

(6-Adult) Create a welcoming space for birds and watch who shows up! Learn how feeders, food, and native plants can support local wildlife, then take part in making native seed balls to grow plants that birds love.


Bat Night

(6-Adult) Join a naturalist to discover the facts, fiction and folklore about nature’s only true flying mammal- bats. We will set the record straight about these incredible but often-misunderstood group of animals. The program will start with a presentation followed by a night walk where we will use a special acoustic device to listen for and identify bat calls not heard with the human ear.


Bats - Friendly Flyers

(4-Adult) Join a naturalist for a night of learning about the beauty of our local bats. It's time to clear these flying mammals' good name and understand how helpful they are to humans. The program will involve not only talking about bats, but also looking and listening for nearby bats.

Birding for Beginners (12-Adult)

(12-Adult) Learn about the park's birds and some basic identification skills. This program for beginners starts with a bird identification discussion. Children age 12 to 16 must be accompanied by a registered adult.


Busy Beavers

(3-Adult) Beavers are some of the busiest animals in the natural world. In this family-friendly program, participants will learn how beavers build, eat and shape their habitats.


Campfire Fridays

(5-Adult) Join us for an evening campfire the whole family can enjoy. Explore the wonders of our natural world through nature walks, interactive activities and animal presentations. Includes s’mores. Topics vary by date. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.


Cell Phone Photography (13-Adult)

(13-Adult) Smartphones have tremendous power to take great photos if you know what you are doing. In this class, we will explore the wonders and push the limits of cell phone photography. We will cover how to create photos with depth, stop and capture motion, editing and how to take good photos in low light.

Champions for Nature - Webelos

(8-10 yrs.) In this scouting elective, you’ll discover more about the wildlife we share our planet with and how to protect them. Research and explore wildlife habitats and find out why some animals are threatened and endangered and what Scouts can do to help them. Use the knowledge and experiences you gain to complete a conservation project at a later date. Discover the amazing world you share with wildlife at your local park today.

Create, connect and embrace the cozy spirit of the season. Leave with the skills and knowledge to finish your hat at home.


Cultivate a Sense of Wonder - Nature Journaling

(8-Adult) Participants in this introductory session will practice John Muir Law's "I notice, I wonder, it reminds me of" nature journaling strategy to hone their observational skills and then learn different approaches to recording their observations on the page using images, words, and numbers. The objective is to connect to the natural world without an expectation of making great "art" or collecting/learning facts. Basic drawing supplies will be available or bring your own supplies if you'd prefer.

Dinosaur Days Camp (4-7 yrs)

Campers will become junior paleontologists as naturalists lead discovery of the latest in dinosaur knowledge through crafts, games and fossils.
