The Fairfax County Park Authority offers a variety of activities such as classes, camps and tours in a wide variety of categories including aquatics, fitness, nature, dance, outdoor recreation, performing arts, history and many more. Special events, trips/tours and specialty workshops are listed in Parktakes, the Park Authority’s quarterly guide, available through free subscription to county citizens. .

3-2-1 BLAST OFF (6-11 yrs.)

This action-packed, Mad Science week focuses solely on rockets and the physics of rocket flight. After learning the model rocket safety code, campers build a number of different rockets and participate in the launching, mission control, propulsion and recovery. Bring lunch and drink daily. Abrakadoodle Space STEAM Art Adventure

Learn about the solar system, meteoroids, meteors and meteorites, constellations and more. Find out why astronauts wear spacesuits and why telescopes are important tools. Use different techniques to create art focusing on science, technology, engineering and math concepts while reaching for the stars as artists. A supply fee of $40 is due on the first day. Abrakadoodle World Travel 3D Art (3.5-6 yrs.)

Travel with us on this creative journey and change the way you see the world. Create 3D masterpieces inspired by world cultures. Learn about Chinese ceramics, Croatian “licitar” hearts, Maori design carvings from New Zealand, “nicho” boxes from Mexico and much more. Use a variety of materials and learn how art connects people from all over the world. Supply fee due on first day ($35 half- day camps). Download camp forms from website once registered.

Abrakadoodle’s Art of Nature Camp (6-12 yrs.)

There is no better way to learn about nature than to experience it through art. Join us for an exciting art camp where walks around the lake get creative juices flowing. Kids will create original art pieces inspired by nature. Outdoor breaks will depend on weather. Supply fee of $16 due on first day. Bring lunch and drink.


Accotink Adventure Camp (9-13 yrs.)

Join us for the ultimate outdoor camp. Activities include archery, boating (kayaking/canoeing) techniques/equipment/strokes/rescues, fishing, hiking, orienteering, camping skills, animal tracking, reptile and amphibian identification and a water park day. Act It Out! (4-6 yrs.)

Explore this theater and arts program that invites children to act out storybooks with positive values and create art projects. Campers present their favorite story on the last day. Action & Minecraft Movie Flix (7-13 yrs.)

In the mornings, campers use a green screen, camera tricks and special effects to create their own live-action action adventure movie. They collaborate to write, act and direct scenes and learn action choreography that thrills audiences. Afternoons are spent using stop-motion animation. We’ll bring Steve, Alex, the creepers and more to life. They’ll storyboard, shoot and voice-over in age-appropriate groups. Flix downloadable within a month after camp ends from Incrediflix. ACTion! JAM-ILTON (7-14 yrs.)

Hamilton-inspired camp by Moonlit Wings Productions - Actors, rappers, history buffs and hip-hoppers, blast back to 1776 and become musical showstoppers. Write original scenes themed to the American Revolution, show off your freedom of speech and sing about the constitution. Explore music from “Hamilton” and other Broadway shows and create your own characters from heroes to foes. Family and friends are invited to a mini-play featuring your original work on the final day. Adapted Accotink Adventures (13-22 yrs.)

Camp designed for people with intellectual disabilities, 1:4 staff to camper ratio. Enjoy outdoor activities such as boating (kayaking/canoeing), fishing, hiking, orienteering, animal tracking, reptile and amphibian identification and a water park day. Sheltered woodland pavilions provide the perfect setting for slower-paced activities including fun arts-and-crafts. Bring snack, lunch and water bottle. Camps run rain or shine. Adapted Fun & Fit (13-22 yrs.)

Advanced Golf Summer Camp (13-17 yrs.)

Designed for the experienced teen golfer who is trying out for or playing on their high school team. Our well qualified instructors will cover all aspects of golf in addition to etiquette and rules. Adventure Links Classic Adventure 8-10yr

Take part in a week of true adventures on 425-acres at Hemlock Overlook. The 8-10 yrs. group (Classic Adventure) enjoys a low and high ropes course, canoeing, outdoor living skills day and caving. Adventure Links Ultimate Adventure 11-13

Take part in a week of true adventures on 425-acres at Hemlock Overlook. Adventures in Musical Theater (6-9 yrs.)

Join us in song and dance as we perform an original musical piece! Learn choreography to hit songs all accompanying a scripted musical to be performed at the end of the week. Bring lunch, drink and swimsuit/towel (some swim time may be available each day). Campers may be transported by bus to local schools for classroom/gym use. No camp July 4-5. Adventures on the Farm (6-10 yrs.)

Discover what life is like on the farm with activities such as goat milking and visits to the farm. Make homemade snacks and hand-churned ice cream in the air conditioned Old Floris Schoolhouse. Camp includes indoor & outdoor activities including hikes, games and crafts. Extended care available at site. Bring snack, lunch and drink daily.
